Home Decorating With Area Rugs – When you decorate or redecorate your living space, you have a variety of options that can enhance the style or theme of each individual room – different pieces of furniture, window treatments, artwork or other wall décor and of course, area rugs.
The size is the first thing to consider. Before anything, you should measure the area where you would like to place the rug so you’ll have an idea of what size you’ll need. If you are putting it under a dining room table, for example, you’ll want to ensure that the rug is large enough for the chairs to be pulled away from the table without going over the edge.
If not, it will suffer more wear than necessary, or even worse, one of your guests could fall over in their chair if they hit the bump the wrong way. Just keep common sense in mind and you should be just fine.
Next, it’s time to consider what style of area rug will go with your décor. Area rugs come in a wide range of styles, from modern, rustic and contemporary to Southwestern and oriental. Of course, they also come in solid colors, as well. If you have a busy room with lots of different colors and patterns, you might want to consider a solid color. That being said, if you have an eclectic personality or style, there is nothing wrong with pairing a lively, colorful rug with lively, colorful décor. Persian and oriental rugs work great in this situation.
The most important thing to remember is that the perfect area rug is whatever you want it to be. If you want something bright and striking that people can see from two rooms away, then go for it! But if you would rather have one that blends in with the furniture and goes largely unnoticed, that’s fine, too.
