This apartment is called “Ayazpasa House” and spotted in Istanbul, Turkey. The architecture of the house is mixing an exciting combination of modern details and traditional Turkish elements; the loft has a fresh feel throughout. It’s very beautiful glided ceilings and beautiful moldings that create an elegant image, with a soft vintage touch. The details on the ceiling, marbles, fold-plated accents are the main design of this stunning vintage luxury interior in the house of Istanbul. Marble is a material also found in the washroom, where there are marble touches all over the room, as well as a marble-framed mirror.

The golden ceiling is in the kitchen. This is truly luxurious kitchen with exotic golden touch. Entering the bathroom, you will find some luxurious marbles materials, and these stay in stunning and vintage interior design.

The main living areas are given the special and varied treatment of the walls. The walls of the house are removed to reveal layers of paint used over the years, and some are covered in white tiles.

The flat has an extremely high ceiling, another dramatic feature that originally set the scene for the design of the space. The kitchen has an ornate gold ceiling as its most significant feature, so the design on the floor level is kept simpler, with all the appliances integrated in a single large marble block. Wood is used for the cupboards for a stunning contrast of materials, while providing a breath of warmth to the space.

The Ayazpasa house was designed by Sefer Çaglar and Seyhan Özdemir, pioneers of architecture studio Autoban. The wooden pieces of furniture create a warm atmosphere. When you also add the comfy nest chair, everything seems very inviting and cozy.

The people who love to enjoy the Native American interior design can pick nice ideas about it. Native American culture is really very diverse and visually rich, making it an interesting theme to incorporate into your home decor. This interior design usually is defined based on the natural wood, southwest element as well as the Mission style. All of them can reflect the true feeling of the native Indian people from the Navajo design, Pueblos Indian and eastern woodland.

Implementing the look will be fun and challenging. This is an idea that you have to try this Native American interior design at home. The main thing that people have to concern when it comes about the Native American interior design lies on the look of the traditional crafts and arts.

It's the best to emulate the aesthetic of the Native Americans from the southwest. If you take a look at some of their home items like their pottery, you'll notice that each item is discrete enough to fit in yet detailed and striking enough to stand out as an individual piece. Their predominantly dark and neutral colors also ensure that it won't be randomly sticking out against most color schemes. It's this kind of aesthetic that will work best when integrating a completely new theme into an existing motif.

Before leaving the example of pottery behind, it has to be mentioned that pottery is one very big item you can have to add that Native American touch into a room. They're excellent design pieces that are very functional as well. Using them for storage is a great way to incorporate them into the theme. If you get a big enough pot, you can even make it a designing centerpiece by decorating a certain space around it.

You can implement an interior design idea based on the look of the southwest Native American interior design. This style is large since people can pick the pueblos, adobe or even Mission style. The primary thing that you should concern when you can to deliver the look is your creativity. The color palette in Native American interior design is often dominated by turquoise and coal accent. You can also enjoy the color defined from the look of natural elements such as the amethyst, brick red and copper tone.

The wall treatment is easy to apply. You can have it made from wood. It is better for you to apply white color since the neutral color will be easy to spice up with the native craft and art. The curtain, furniture and wall hanging in Native American interior design should be suitable with the turquoise color. The wall hanging that you can apply in the house should deliver the quality of the Native American interior design. You can pick the desert lizard or even sun pattern to feel the nature.

The next type of native America interior design is called as pueblo American Indian interior design. This style enables you to pick the main color defined from the look of rose. The adobe home is the best inspiration that you should concern when you want to make an application. You just have to decorate the house in simplicity. Some interesting colors that you can apply include melon, sunshine yellow, turquoise, and cantaloupe, sunset red and amethyst. The flower is made in natural accent, while the throw rug is available in the back on the sofa upholstered in leather tone. Don’t forget to place a thick blanket on the sofa. Then you can decorate this look by placing some handmade pottery. You can fill it with fake fruits or even flowers.

The last type of Native American interior design is based on the look of the sun. Sun is one of the important elements in the life of native Indian people. Some native India tribes who have a wonderful design of the sun named as Tawah are the Hopi and Navajo tribes. Thus you can fill the house with some interesting sun design. For example, you can pick a hand woven rug in the form of the sun. The highlight the room should be vibrant. You can make it enticing by implementing the supporting colors like turquoise, red and green. Thus, your native American interior design ideas will be fun.

Discreet way to add those Native American touches is hanging up artworks made by or inspired by the cultural group. You can easily find Native American prints or reproductions online. Framing them properly and hanging them up in the right places can really help in bringing out the Native American 'feel' that you're trying to achieve.

Trinkets, baskets, instruments and tools, in the right quantities, will further emphasize the Native American theme. Putting one or two big and free-standing pieces around a room will be sufficient to bring out the accent that you're after. If you want to get smaller novelties and bric-a-brac, make sure you arrange them on a shelf or in a display case. Doing so turns the small items into one big design element, making them easier to identify and unlikely to be seen as mere clutter.

When decorating a room with Native American touches, it's really best to just let things happen and buy items as you see them. The Native American aesthetic was closely tied to nature, to the world and to letting things be.

If you want to successfully furnishing a cottage-style room, there are three keys: white paint, slipcovers and creativity. Cottage inspired décor looks like it has been there for years. Cottage style décor also focuses on light and airy interiors. White paint breathes new life into mismatched, old and discolored furniture and creates a unifying theme that lets all sorts of style blend well into a room. Some furniture on the market today, especially children’s furniture, already comes with white paint, distressed edges and a cottage-inspired design, conveying the popularity of this relatively new style. The result of a few coats of paint is an airy, bright and cheerful mood within the home.

Slipcovers perform the same function for upholstered furniture as paint does for wooden furniture. Worn out flea market finds and hand-me-downs will perk up under a pale (white or cream) slipcover that may or may not have prints that match your braided rugs and accents.

Use slipcovers over couches and chairs in living areas to bring in the colors and textures that are low maintenance and beckon to relax in them. Don’t worry if the slipcovers show a wrinkle or two - you want to look as though a guest can have a seat without disrupting the room. You want the room to look lived in, but avoid crossing the line to unkempt.

Wood is a favorite for cottage style décor because of its traditional beginnings. If using new furniture, distressing techniques will make furniture look worn, but comfortable and cozy. So, touch into your creative side as you plan your furniture layout. Consider using items for something other than their obvious function. Turn a favorite chair into a console table that holds a favorite hatbox or a collection of teddy bears. Old cupboards can be used as shelving to hold your collection of teacups and saucers. With cottage style rooms, you’re truly limited only by your imagination.

One of the few styles in which stains are a good thing, tea stained textiles in cottage designed rooms fit the antique and charming image built by eclectic furniture and distressed wood. Tea-staining makes new fabric look well-loved and dulls the sharpness a fresh, white textile can have.

Vintage Blacksmith Hanging Pot Rack, Potterybarn

Additionally, keep window treatments relatively uncomplicated and airy to let natural sunshine and warmth filter into your room. Complement this natural lighting with bunches of flowers in vases.

For extra detail and interest in your cottage design, use trunks, particularly beautiful or quaint plates, mirrors, frames, and lace linens. Don’t be limited by this list; you can find other items to populate your room when browsing attics, vintage stores, flea markets and more.

In each rustic kitchen, wood is an essential element. However, this does not mean that the rustic kitchen must be furnished in an antique style, as modern trends provide an opportunity for innovative rustic furnishing - adorned with the spirit of an environmental and rural feel, informal and domestic.

For example, in the white kitchen you can add rustic tone - light blue strips provide all elements of kitchen layout now popular "shabby chic", and in the rustic kitchen dominates a massive shake table made of wood. The counterweight cabinet makes an excellent and impressive dimensions in the same, shabby chic style.

One of the most important elements of rustic kitchen style is exposing of dishes, cutlery and service in the kitchen cabinets. For this purpose, use open kitchen shelves that can be made at relatively low cost, while slightly more expensive kitchen cabinets have more luxurious details - the back of the kitchen cabinet is made of solid wood, which is important to see through the glass doors on the front.

There is no need to always use antique details and natural materials to achieve rustic effects. Using a nice combination of light and plain chipboard with cork pattern you can get the desired atmosphere as well. Also, in the rustic kitchen you can paint the walls and beams in white colour, and if you keep the angle of the untreated bricks and flooring to a light wooden base colour, the rustic kitchen will stay in a dynamic and cozy atmosphere.

Thatching is the craft of building a roof with dry vegetation such as straw, water reed, sedge, rushes and heather, layering the vegetation so as to shed water away from the inner roof.

There are more thatched roofs in the Ireland and United Kingdom than in any other European country. Quality thatching straw can last for more than 45–50 years when applied by a skilled Thatcher.

The only way to create a visually stunning structure is to use a genuine hand thatched roof. The creation of each genuine thatched roof is an art and as the thatching progresses the structure comes alive. Not only does the thatched roof look fantastic, it will also be completely water tight and offer year round protection from the elements.

Thatch, being a natural material, will mellow in colour from its original fresh straw to a dark sheen that tones in wonderfully with the South African outdoors. At the same time, the rustic roughness of textured thatch inside the building lends itself to co-ordination with other natural materials such as stone & wood etc. The high open ceilings in thatch roofed homes give the rooms a spacious, airy feeling that can be followed through with large window openings, and perhaps stone or slate floors to add to the rustic ambience.

Because thatching is a labour intensive process, the cost of a thatched roof is normally up to 60% higher than that of a conventional roof. This price difference can be limited, however, by using the roof space efficiently, with dormer windows and a mezzanine level for instance where the walling and plastering costs will be less. The insulating properties are very good, keeping the home warm in winter and cool in summer. Although thatch is one of the oldest building materials, modern, innovative laying techniques ensure that the interior finish is clean, with no loose pieces hanging down to harbour insects or encourage spider webs.

Design Of Thatched Roof

A thatched roof should have a minimum pitch of 45° and min 35° over dormer windows. Take advantage of the steep pitch to provide accommodation in the roof space to make the design more cost effective.
Try to keep a thatched roof as simple as possible, but the ability of thatch to adapt to free curved shapes to develop a less formal plan could be implemented.

Consider flashed areas; features that penetrate or interrupt the roof should be avoided as far as possible. Chimney shafts should be designed to penetrate the roof plane at the ridge, thus avoiding the necessity of back flashing.

Rain water must not be allowed to discharge from a high level roof onto a thatched roof at a lower level.

Thatch, 150 mm thick, has a mass of about 20-25 kg/m2. The roof framing normally consists of eucalyptus poles that have been chemically treated. The poles may be spaced up to 900 mm apart. But Building Societies in South Africa will usually insist on a maximum spacing of 700 mm and a minimum pole diameter of 100 mm.

The grass that is used to form the ridge capping is thinner, softer and more pliable than that used for the main roof. The lower edges of the ridge capping may be trimmed to a decorative profile with chevrons or scallops.
Alternatives to grass ridges are often used, the most common being preformed fibreglass, sheet metal and cement. The ridge is the most vulnerable part of a thatched roof and particular care must be taken to ensure that this feature is absolutely watertight.

Durability

A thatched roof will normally last for about 25 years if properly laid. Dekriet will typically last a little longer, up to 35 years. A thatch roof ridge require renewal every 4-6 years.

Thatch is still employed by builders in developing countries, usually with low-cost, local vegetation. By contrast in some developed countries it is now the choice of affluent people who desire a unique, rustic design for their home or who have purchased an originally thatched abode.

Sloping roof houses, of course, we rarely encountered today because many of them are now more inclined to a modern minimalist home. This is definitely unique Chenchow Little is one of the most innovative team of architects out of Australia at this time. Project is work of Tony Chenchow and Stephanie Little who make Chenchow Little Architects. The three-storey home is constructed out of steel, zing and glass, both interior and facades are a showcase of architecture vs geometry. Housing construction projects are mostly working within the confines of the house needs, and design concepts. But to house the sloping roof, the design is really built around strict building code guidelines for the environment.

The local buildings department decided to play hardball with the new build. “Council requirements for setbacks, roof pitch, recessive colors, and roof and street context literally formed the boundaries of the project,” the team explained. Within these tough boundaries came the solutions that created this stunning new residence.

Materials such as pre-weathered zinc (which came highly recommended by the council), charcoal colored glass, and warm toned wood created the warm material & color pallet. Them the council gave specific height measurements for the roof, which varied at certain points, these points are what created the beautiful geometric design!

Gypsy decorating generally includes bohemian, Moroccan, Indian, hippie, vintage or beatnik influence, or some combination of the above. It creates an eclectic or even eccentric atmosphere, while keeping it rich and warm at the same time. Create your own gypsy hideaway with unique items that are ornate, funky and colorful. To pull it off successfully, you will need a good eye for color, a bit of wild abandon, and a taste for eclectic surroundings.

If you are looking to capture the gypsy vibe for your home, apartment, dorm room, or even the back of a van or camper, here are a few gypsy decor tips and pics to give you some ideas. Let your imagination run wild!

Textiles. Jewel tones are essential to the gypsy decorating style. Jewel tones are bright colors with high saturation like turquoise, ruby, sapphire, amber, emerald and amethyst. Create a rich setting with velvety, textured fabrics and colorful brocade. Don't worry about matching your fabrics; an eclectic variety is key. Layer multiple types of fabric draped over a rod for window treatments. Hang lengths of fabric from the ceiling and tie loose knots in them halfway down to divide a room or surround furniture. Fabric ornamented with lace, fringe or trim can also be used in gypsy decor. Cover the floors with antique, Persian or other intricately patterned rugs.

Furniture. Stick to low, casual seating like love seats and ottomans. Antique furniture modified with new velvet or brocade fabric coverings or draped with lace helps create the eclectic gypsy feel. Surround your bed or an antique settee or bench with fabric curtains that can be drawn; a hanging bed canopy can be used. Ornately painted furniture in an Indian style, such as a chest or wardrobe, also complements a gypsy theme. Accent your furniture with decorative or brocade pillows and place cushions on the floor for more casual seating.

Ornamentation. An important aspect of gypsy interior decorating is that everything is ornamental and embellished. Use tassels, embroidery, metallic braid edging, small bells, strings of beads and other ornamentation to dress up everyday items into gypsy-inspired pieces. Glue fake gems onto mirrors and picture frames, hang bead strings and costume jewelry along with your drapes, and add braid edging to upholstered furniture.

Accessories. Complete your gypsy decorating with a variety of eclectic accessories. Arrange clusters of colored or antique glass jars, bottles and vases on trays and place lace coverings on top of dressers, chests and shelves. Hang chandeliers, silk or paper globe lanterns, and punched tin or ornate glass pendant lights. String lights liberally across the room. Add colorful prayer flags, Indian- or Eastern-inspired art and ornamental mirrors with artistic metal or mosaic frames.

Wabi-Sabi Minimalist Apartment in Moscow with interior inspired by Japanese aesthetic and is a game of dark and light contrasts. It’s done in quite a minimalist style but features some vintage furniture and an amazing custom-made low curved ceiling made of lime and wax. Besides there are thin layers of marble on the walls that add some luxury to this living space. The apartment with high ceilings is designed by Andrey Gorozhankin of Russian design studio Decolieu.

This East European contemporary interior example lets the winter season possesses bright winter interior design. The result of Wabi-Sabi project keeps the interior design development of East European area in goof interior design progress of contemporary interior design development. This Wabi-Sabi beautiful interior design is a great reference.

Wabi-Sabi, the Japanese aesthetic is the ability to perceive beauty in its essence. Simplicity without extravagances. Harmony of natural materials. The Japanese used to live in houses made of wood and paper. They endured cold because they felt it was necessary to stay connected to the outside world, to remain a part of the environment. A Japanese architect Shigeru Ban is still building with carton and metal.

For this project we chose to use thin layers of marble for the walls and plaster made of lime and wax for the ceiling. The latter is a naturally white composition. It is a very expensive and labor-intensive material that emphasizes the beauty and poetic imperfection of nature’s texture. Still, we regard wood as the most precious material. It is alive, organic, in some way our relative that we are always glad to see.

The accent pieces in oak are provided by a Russian designer Yuri Ryntovt. These are unique pieces, there are never two of the kind. Stripped of bark the walnut boards look at the same time rough and refined, posing both as sculptures and pieces of furniture.

Every single material that we used evidences our belief that an eco-friendly home is defined not by its style but by its philosophy. We add nothing to this world and we will take nothing away. But it is in our power not to disturb the existing harmony.

Initially it was a relatively small 80 square meter mansard apartment with high ceiling. We introduced a second floor, a mezzanine: a metallic construction suspended by thin pipes from the mansard girders. This solution provided for extra 50 m2 with two children’s rooms and a bathroom meanwhile the first floor was divided into a dining room/living room, a study, a master bedroom with a wardrobe, a kitchen, and two bathrooms (one used also as a laundry room).

French country style bedroom looks luxurious and sophisticated with big size master bed with great looking headboard. Bedroom with French style will provide a comfortable atmosphere. Dark rich wood tones and elegant tapestry create restful ambiance in the bedroom. Iron wall décor, intricately carved mirror and matching dressing chair, exquisite lighting and candle stands make the room look very stylish and sophisticated. Bedroom decor is very personal, and one should not feel pressure to conform to a strict set of decorating rules, as one would in a formal living or dining room. The space should be inviting and comfortable first of all. If you are trying to achieve an authentic French Country look, however, there are certain guidelines that should be kept in mind.

Color. French Country bedrooms are usually set in a background color of white or pastels. Paint the bedroom walls with creamy white, yellow or blue seen inspired by the colors in the south of France. Add templates to the wall with birdhouses and flowers in French about the country style. Using white and light colors allows the use of many accents, without the room becoming too heavy or appearing crowded. Be sure to use a soft white, as that is the traditional French country look and will coordinate much better with the “shabby chic” appearance of French country furniture and accents than a stark white.

White or light colors should be considered throughout the bedroom, from the flooring, which is traditionally wood, to accent rugs, bedding, and draperies.

Furniture. Two pieces of furniture are key to making a bedroom with a country French theme. First, the bed. Beds in French Country decor are large and sturdy, and usually made of iron or wood. If wood is your choice, the exposed wood needs to be weathered, painted, or distressed. Iron work will be softened by the room’s accents. In French Country bedrooms, the bed is the centerpiece of the room, so consider investing in this piece as well as the bedding that you will use.

Secondly, the armoire. Armoires for the bedroom come in a variety of styles. The armoire is multi-functional, so even if your room contains closets that are used to store clothing, the armoires can provide additional storage, or even serve as an entertainment center. Armoires provide hanging space, or can be configured with drawers or shelving to accomadate seasonal clothing. Storage of bedroom linens and towels is also a consideration, and many people like to leave the doors of the armoire open to reveal an westheticdsiplay of color coordinated linens. Armoires, like any French country piece, will be ornately designed but have a shabby appearance and look old. Armoires for the bedroom can also be softened with the use of draperies in the door panels, or even draped with sheeting, lace, or linen.

Lighting. French Country bedrooms must be illuminated softly so as not to disturb the ambiance of the rural countryside appeal that the look is known for. Natural lighting is key, so sheer window treatments should be used to allow the filtered sunlight to come through. For wired lighting, chandeliers or sconces are the traditional choice. An antique or antique look chandelier should be chosen; one that features delicate details. Traditional lamps are also acceptable, but harsh or plain shades should be softened with fabric. All lightbulbs should be frosted or low wattage to avoid any harshenss from the artificial light.

Accents. Accenting the French Country bedroom is the easiest part of assembling this look. The possibilities here are almost limitless- just stick to soft fabrics with traditional toile or farmhouse prints, pretty but light draperies and sheers, and soft chairs and pillows. If you have room, a small vanity table with a padded chair is a great focal point for a room corner. In addition, accents such as bed pillows and small rugs can be used to soften the look.

A well-appointed French Country bedroom can be one of the most inviting and comfort-filled rooms in your home. Make it your own, and you’ll be sure to enjoy the surroundings for years to come.

Yves Saint Laurent's Villa Mabrouka is known as the House of Luck. The Moroccan home represents a collaboration between two of the great French aesthetes of the 20th century: Laurent, who turned pantsuits and safari jackets into haute couture, and Jacques Grange, the only interior designer ever to receive the Légion d'Honneur, France's highest decoration. Designed by the master of French interiors, Jacques Grange, the villa offers a blend of African and European influences. Perched on a cliff overlooking the coast of the Spanish region of Andalusia and the Strait of Gibraltar, the 9,688-square-foot home rests on nearly two acres of grounds landscaped by Madison Cox, featuring soaring palms, Italian lemon trees and extensive lawns. A heated swimming pool was excavated into the mountain rocks on which the estate stands, while a nearby pavilion was designed by architect Stuart Church.

Villa Mabrouka also boasts two airy master suites with verandas, three guest rooms, a professional kitchen, a bamboo-lined dining room and an English-club-style library. There are a couple of sitting rooms in the house including the Blue Room which is all done up in blue chintz and the Yellow Room in, surprise, yellow chintz.

Beautiful gardens designed by Madison Cox surround the main house, which opens through a Moorish-style entry flowing into a lobby with white Moroccan arcades. Cox laid out the garden with towering palms, citrus and rolling lawns to emphasise the unfettered view across the sea.

Other public rooms include a dining room with bamboo walls, and office and a library that, according to listing information, exudes an English club atmosphere and a Colonial era fireplace.

There are, according to listing information, three bedrooms on the main level including two master bedrooms with verandas and private poopers as well as a third bedroom that also includes a private pooper.

Previously owned by Sheika Fatima bint Fahd bin Salem Al Sabah of Kuwait, the estate is located in a residential enclave next to the Kasbah, five minutes from downtown Tangier. It was purchased by Laurent and Bergé in 1998.

Whether you're remodeling a kitchen or bathroom or adding a bedroom, one of the most important decorating steps is choosing windows to match the architectural style of your home. For example, you wouldn't use a zebra print shower curtain to complement a nautically themed bathroom. Likewise, pvc windows may not complement a contemporary casement window may not harmonize with the decor in your vintage-themed kitchen. The wrong window option can detract from your home's style.

"Window styles can dramatically change the way you interact and feel in a room," says Elaine Sagers, Pella Corporation's vice president for marketing and customer support. "For instance, installing a wall of fixed windows that showcases a beautiful garden or scenic landscape can instill feelings of tranquility and peace. The right window style can enhance the mood in a room and the overall appearance of your home."

Style matters. First, consider the style of your home. Windows don't have to be boring. "Think outside the box and choose something that shows off your style and personality," Sagers says. "Pay attention to functionality as well.

Window types

Bathroom Windows Casement windows - Often called crank-out windows, these open and close outward with the turn of a handle. The single sash creates a clear view to the outdoors, popular in contemporary homes and hard-to-reach places, like over a bathtub or kitchen sink.

Awning windows - Hinged at the top, these windows open out like an awning, ideal for rainy climates to enjoy fresh air during a gentle rain. They're often used above or below other windows and doors, in bedrooms and in hard-to-reach places.

Double-hung windows - These windows offer flexibility to raise or lower each sash for ventilation, traditional style.

Single-hung windows - A traditional style opened by raising the bottom sash, use in easy-to-reach places like bedrooms.

Sliding windows - A contemporary-style sliding sash moves horizontally to help reduce reaching when opening or closing this window.

Bay and bow windows - When wall space is limited or additional accent is desired, a traditional-style bay or bow window features more windows to capture a beautiful view outside.

Fixed windows - Since they do not open, energy-efficient fixed windows let in light and provide a focal point.

Special shape windows - Achieve architectural interest with styles ranging from circles and half-circles to trapezoids, pentagons and more.

Color adds punch. Next, determine your room's color palette. Match your window trim to the woodwork for a contemporary, finished look, or experiment with a complementing woodwork or finish color for a fun, less formal style.

Many windows offer hardware options. Color-matched hardware for sash locks or cranks provides a seamless look, while metal finishes, like oil rubbed bronze or satin nickel, make a bold, artistic statement.

Used smartly, the color black can lend an air of sophistication and elegance to an interior design scheme. Against a background of lighter colors or neutrals, anything in black will stand out. Black interior design is very hot in some parts of Europe and the black color can be just about anything you want it to be. It can be a great accent color or it can be the color you build your whole decoration around.

Black is often associated with negative associations but in interior design black is really an underestimated color. Black is a color full of contradictions. It represents elegance, formality, death, evil, sex mystic and power to mention a few.

Dark colors generally make rooms seem much smaller than they are, so unless you enjoy cocooning, black might not be a great choice for background color especially on walls. Also, painting over black generally takes more than two coats of paint, which makes it a nuisance to cover later.

Still, the number of color combinations using black are huge, though some like orange and black tend to have holiday connotations that would be downright irritating year in and out. One current trend is mixing a neutral room with some pieces of black furniture. The effect can be very elegant, and provides a contemporary twist for a traditional room. Black used with a mix of white and brights often looks very modern.

If you have fallen in love with a big black sofa and your living-room is a bit on the small side, the psychological effects of the color black will work against you: this color can really smother a room and give it a menacing austerity.

While - in the West - the color black is often used to demonstrate power and social prestige (think black Mercedes and black-tie events), you won't find much that's actually joyful or life-affirming about this color.

Use black for:

- Approval of independence
- Create an atmosphere of mystery and intrigue
- Impressions of warmth
- Expression of strength and solidarity

Use the color wisely, like "eyeliner" for a room - ondetails like:

 - picture frames,
- accessories,
- small side tables,
- piping or similar detail in textiles (cushions, throws ...), or
- an element of patterns.

When shopping for fabrics, keep an eye out for colorful prints or plaids with touches of black. Then add more black to the room with lamps, table trims, frames and mats, pillows, and door and hardware. Accent pieces of black iron are very popular and easy to find. Use a black metal tables base with glass top, black iron candlesticks and light fixtures in a dining room, black iron bookends in family room or home office.

Designed by Michael Meredith and Hilary Sample of design office MOS Design, the combination cabin/boat dock is located on an island in Lake Huron, Ontario, and floats atop a structure of steel pontoons. This floating house combines country-cottage flair and a wonderful watery appeal for the swimmers, boaters and fishermen out there. Its breathtaking location and cutting-edge design is really a sight to behold both day and night. This floating house sits on the water among windswept trees and the characteristic, rocky Canadian Shield terrain – not an easy spot to built, but definitely worth the effort. This picturesque spot, a 20-minute boat ride from the mainland, provides the perfect backdrop for this island house, which has been described as a “necklace” of buildings strung around the island – a main cottage with an integrated boathouse and dock, and a series of separate cottages to accommodate the many overnight guests that clamber to spend summers here.

The timber cottage blends with its surroundings, which appear untouched, providing the perfect getaway. The interior, just 1,250 sq. ft., is also wood-clad – walls, ceilings, floors, and even the bathroom fixtures.

See this Stylish and Sustainable Home Design Ideas with Simple Design –Blue Sky Homes. A great house with simple and minimalist design, that built on a rocky plan. A collaborative effort between the prefabricated home developer Blue Sky Homes LLC and Palm Springs architect Lance O’Donnell o2 Architecture; SF 1000 this house is located in the Mojave Desert in 4000 ‘above sea level. The program called a residency, sustainable modestly sized to serve as a prototype for a line of prefabricated homes. Special attention was paid to the positioning of the site and building orientation. Inspired by Le Corbusier’s “Domino”, the building contains a pure structure of columns and planes. Adaptability is not created by the walls and openings of cargo that can be moved within the structure to meet a variety of site conditions.

The house is positioned above the site at the moment resisting columns and steel beams gauge cold-formed light. The building envelope consists of a grid of precast concrete panels and building components standardized. The bathroom module, containing all MEP systems home is constructed off-site and handed over. Interior spaces are defined by the placement of storage lockers, eliminating interior walls framed. Solar technologies provide electricity, hot water and heating.

The full apartment building components to minimize the volume of transport and promote sustainability through efficiency of materials / structural and can be dismantled and transferred. The very nature of the project ensures prefabricated low embodied energy and minimizes waste site. The prototype was completed after a construction schedule for 8 weeks.
