American Modern Collection Designed by DWR

American Modern Collection Designed by DWR

With a design nod toward the iconic work of mid-century American masters – but updated to use today’s most advanced manufacturing processes – the American Modern Collection has a straightforward aesthetic. Crafted out of FSC-certified wood, the bed has a canted headboard that’s mounted on metal brackets to provide some “give,” and a short footboard (about 2″) that keeps the mattress in place. This is a formaldehyde-free product and great example of perfect interior design.

Ollie Lounge Armchair by Royce Nelson

Ollie Lounge Armchair by Royce Nelson

Royce Nelson sees commonality between his two primary passions and professions: design and skateboarding. “Both are about creating fluid lines with balance and power,” says the San Francisco area designer. (A bit of trivia: An “ollie” is a no-handed aerial skateboarding trick.) Nelson also understands grand statements, so when we decided to bring a large-scale, versatile outdoor collection into our assortment, he was a natural choice. “Design should be fun,” says Nelson – which in the case of the Ollie Collection doesn’t negate its practicality. Made of weather-resistant synthetic rattan and responsibly harvested solid teak, this clean-lined, materially compelling collection suits a variety of large outdoor settings, from patio to poolside. Suitable for residential, hospitality and contract use. Seat Cushions (sold separately) are available in Sunbrella® “Linen” or “Meridian” acrylic fabric, which resists fading or mildewing, even when exposed to extremes of sunlight, temperature and moisture.

Rusa Designed by Grant Kirkpatrick and Jon Wesley Rahman

Rusa Designed by Grant Kirkpatrick and Jon Wesley Rahman

Rusa is the work of KAA Design, a Los Angeles-based firm known for its work on the homes of Tom Hanks and Larry Ellison, and for commercial spaces like Hugo Boss. With beauty and craft as the cornerstones of their practice, this integrated team of architects and designers worked together to develop this collection. Rusa (2010) is all about casual comfort – an emphasis that was inspired by a trip Grant Kirkpatrick took to New Zealand. By spending time in small vacation homes called “bachs,” where people relax and connect with nature, the designer discovered innovative ways to create a rural retreat without sacrificing clean, contemporary design. He returned home and translated those ideas to the furniture the team was creating, employing simple joinery and classic lines to achieve a modern aesthetic. Suitable for residential and contract use.
