Pergola In Your Garden

March 18th, 2012

In the absence of walls and a roof, it defines an outdoor space without constraining it. It’s a unique architectural blend that places you both inside and out at the same time. The structure is called a pergola, and it’s just the thing to bring backyard landscaping to life. Pergolas were common features of Italian Renaissance gardens, often covering walkways or serving as grape arbors. Today, the same design can be used to define a passageway or frame a focal point in your yard. Add a climbing plant such as wisteria or, yes, grapevines, and your pergola will provide color and shade as well.
Pergolas’ primary purpose was to provide shade on walkways, terraces, or pools. The earlier versions were often constructed from stone pillars with wooden cross-beams with a lattice roof. It was common to see ivy, grapevines, or other climbing plants winding around the wood, and filling the open spaces between the lattice.

Fall Garden Design

September 8th, 2011

In the early fall garden, the air is cooler and fresher – what a relief this is if you get a lot of high humidity over the summer! However, fall is a great time to liven up your garden and add variety to your landscape.

For most gardeners, those first hints of cool weather at the end of a long, hot summer are a welcome relief. It’s almost as if Mother Nature is beckoning you to put away your lawn mower and dandelion weeder, kick back in a lounge chair with a good book, and enjoy the outdoor air-conditioning as brightly colored leaves flutter down around you.

If you’ve planned your garden well, you have late-blooming perennials such as sedums, asters, mums, and ornamental grasses to enjoy.

Flagstone Patio Designs

September 3rd, 2011

Flagstone patio designs have quite a lot of advantages over typical patio designs. Flagstone happens to be much more appealing than most other synthetic or artificial materials which are available for outdoor or backyard patios. It has all natural and uniquely rustic markings, which gets more momentum with the featured drab colors. So,flagstone patios are all about elegance and beauty.

Unique patterns bring a nice classic look into the place. But simultaneously, your patio gets a look and feel of unique identity, as no 2 flagstones on earth will contain similar markings.
