Nowadays the word 'vintage' is bandied about all over the place, especially in relation to style and fashion, but we think it's just a smart way of saying second-hand. Vintage items have an inherent attractiveness and charm about them. Vintage interiors take time and commitment, but we're not suggesting that we travel back in time. It's important to make the point here that vintage style for your home is not about historical re-creation of rooms from the past.

Don't panic or feel that you need to get everything at once. Decorating and making your house a home is a gradual process, so don't expect vintage heaven overnight. Setting your own personal style is all about layering your home with things year in, year out, adding to and constantly evolving its appearance.

Don't let anything into your home that you don't absolutely love, or at least ensure it has the potential to be turned into something you love. When deciding what to do with a room, consider what you would want on those four walls if you had to live with the result forever.

For example, if you want a bedroom full of romance and elegance, the sophistication of fin de siècle (a late 19th century style) is a perfect way to achieve it - go with the flow and use a subdued palette of dove greys, whites, blues and florals. Create a flowing canopy to drape over the bed, and add customized bedside cabinets and lots of mirrors. The results are truly romantic!

Take your time and play musical chairs with your furniture, soft furnishings and knick-knacks. It's a great way to freshen up rooms. We're not suggesting you should move your wardrobe or sofa every week, but occasionally rearranging ornaments or pictures can give you a new perspective on everything else. These small moves can give a room a new lease of life, and might spark other design ideas, such as how to display a collection or where an extra chair might fit.

Once you have started to build up a few items that you love, set them down together in one room and see if a theme is emerging. Have you gone for similar colors or patterns? Are there particular items that combine well? Is there an item of furniture that could benefit from some renovation and maybe set the style? Could you pretty things up with a bit of crafting to help bring the room together? If you do spot a theme, whatever it is, that is a good place to start.

There's a real art to making beatiful displays of all your collections, photographs and pictures, but practice makes perfect. Gather similar items together, perhaps grouping them by color or style. A collection of candlesticks, for example, could be arranged in varying heights on a shelf or windowsill, while a collection of letter openers might be better mounted in a frame that can be leant against the back of a shelf. Whatever you love, there is a way of making it work as part of your home.

Feng shui strives for a peaceful, harmonious and balanced co-existence between men, women and their surroundings. But peace and harmony may be hard to come by in the typical work day world. Is your office the least peaceful environment in which you find yourself each day? Because its long history is time-tested and its principles are logical, feng shui is adaptable to any environment and any lifestyle. You can start today to make your home office a more pleasant and profitable place.

Whether at home or in an out-of-home office, large or small, wide-open or more along the lines of a narrow closet, you can arrange your office space to achieve the positive energy flow and harmonious environment for which feng shui designs are known and practiced the world over. Here are a few tips that work to revitalize your home office the feng shui way:

Desks and the door

In feng shui's logical progression of influences, your desk is the single most important element in your office, just as the bed is in the bedroom and the stove is in the kitchen. It's the place where the primary purpose of the room is fulfilled, the living and achieving aspects of the room's interactions with its occupants.

Your desk should always face the door, and ideally, be placed catercorner from your office door. This provides you with a commanding view of your entire space, and enhances the ch'i that gives you command of your workplace and tasks. Through this sense of empowerment and control, you'll feel more confident and capable at work.

A desk with full view of the doorway also prevents you from being surprised or startled at your work. Unexpected interruptions bring a negative aspect to ch'i, which can lose its balance when you're startled. Not surprisingly, an unbalanced ch'i destines you to upset, anxiety, distraction and ineffectiveness. The disharmony results in lost wages, depressed career opportunities, even physical ailments. If your desk can't face the doorway, then use mirrors placed to reflect the doorway so that you'll see anyone who's planning to enter your space.

Dealing with small spaces

If your office space is small and cramped, remove all unessential items to open the room up and allow your desk area as much space as possible. A small office usually leaves little selection for desk placement. Place your desk as far away from the door as possible. A desk too near a door coveys a poor self-image and takes your attention from your work, causing you to be distracted by the door and preoccupied with leaving.

Have no choice but to have your desk near the door? Feng shui has some cures for unfortunate placement:

a. Block your line of vision by placing a mirror on your desk between you and the door.

b. Choose a crystal paperweight to adjust the ch'i in your small office and alter your perspective.

c. Place a living object - consider a small, water-filled fishbowl or a living green plant - between you and your door. Plants placed next to a doorway are a good-ch'i magnet!

Walls and windows

If your desk faces a wall, you'll find the flow of ch'i restricted and your work will suffer. Cure this common arrangement problem by placing a mirror on the wall. Remember that in feng shui, the larger the cure, the greater the curative benefits. While in your office, you shouldn't work with your back to a window - an internal window, or a window facing out - as this arrangement creates uncertainty and subtle anxiety. If you can't avoid the arrangement, then hang a piece of reflective material around the window and place a wind chime above it.

Let there be light!

Natural light is most beloved of feng shui experts, especially window-light that also provides an outlook onto pleasant scenery. If your office offers windows, you can enhance the flow of positive energy through your space by adding mirrors that reflect the views.

Interior lights and lamps enhance the flow of ch'i throughout your space. If at all possible, don't use fluorescent lighting in your office, as its flickering and buzzing are likely to distract you. The cycle of unluckiness will flow from the distraction, which makes you less able to concentrate on your work, thus less effective, thus reducing your potential for wealth and career advancement.

Creating profitable seating arrangements

Chairs and sofas in your office should be arranged to form a triangle facing your desk, turned inward to simulate the revered ba-gua shape in feng shui. Such an arrangement says clearly that your desk is the center of power in the room, enhancing your positive ch'i.

Seats that face each other slightly also improve the office's positive energy by encouraging comfortable conversation and information exchange between and among the room's inhabitants.

Don't fret if your office arrangements are out of your control. Feng shui offers different cures (eight general cures and a ninth cure personalized to the troubled situation) for design problems. Employ them to correct whatever unlucky flaw exists in your office:

1. Bright and reflective items, such as lights, mirrors and crystal balls

2. Life-giving and peaceful objects, such as water, fish, flowers and plants

3. Sounds, such as wind chimes, bells and beaded curtains

4. Objects in motion, such as small waterfalls, mobiles or anything powered by the wind

5. Heavy objects, such as boulders, rocks and fountains

6. Bamboo, especially musical flutes

7. Mechanical or electrical simulations of a desired environment, such as videotapes of a peaceful forest or audio of a gently babbling brook

8. Colors, such as yellow, green and blue, and sometimes black and red, for what they represent in the meaning of the specific environment.

Bring the relaxing atmosphere and slow pace to your home by following cottage look tips. The first thing you look at when trying to create the cottage look in your home is the colors you are going to use. Preferably you will want to use light colors, such as white, beige, apricot, tan, blue, green, yellow and other light colors that provide a warm and crisp appearance.

If you decide you would like to add bold colors to your room, this will also work but be sure to use furniture and accents that are neutral in colors so that the room balances itself out. Mixing different shades of the same color or using two complementing shades is also a great idea. The main thing to keep in mind is that you keep it simple.

You need to consider the furniture that you are placing in the room. You will want your furniture to be a solid color, with minimal pattern. The color of the furniture should be the same as the walls, otherwise it should be in a neutral color. If you decide that you want to go with a bold color furniture then you should ensure that it is only one piece and the rest is of a neutral color. Some rustic furniture and braided cotton rug are just the right thing to bring the whole room together.

There are certain pieces of decor that you look at and instantly think cottage. Things like wood floors, wood furniture and wooden grooved wall panels are classy looking, always in style and provide the room with a warm, inviting cottage feel. When hanging up shelves you want to make sure that they are open and from any angle in the room they can be seen, as well as everything that is on them.

Mixing and matching furniture is encouraged. Combine modern materials of today with cottage decor. Pair cottage shelves with modern granite or marble counter tops in the kitchen. Stainless steel appliances mixed with wood flooring or cabinets is gorgeous. Farmhouse sinks with fixtures made of copper or nickel is a work of art. In other rooms mix and match different shapes and sizes of the same thing (glass bottles, pots and pans, vases, baskets, etc).

When is it time to buy new furniture? Take a look around your house and ask yourself these questions:

1. Are your sofa or chair cushions showing signs of wear? If it’s leather, maybe the seat cushions are discolored, lighter in the seat area than the rest of the sofa or chair. If it’s fabric, see if the upholstery threads are pulling apart or discolored. If your furniture is showing signs of wearing, it’s time to consider new furniture or at least slip covering options.

2. Are there holes in your furniture? You might be able to stitch or patch the holes if the rest of the piece is structurally sound. Otherwise, start thinking about new furniture.

3. When you rise from the seat, does the cushion remain sunken? Check the springs to see if that’s the problem. If a broken or stretched spring is the culprit, the problem can probably be repaired, maybe even by yourself if you happen to be handy in that way. If the springs look okay, maybe you just need a new cushion. Take a cushion with you to an upholstery shop or fabric store to show the sales person what kind of cushion you need to replace the bad one. It’s a good idea to take a good cushion with you so the sales person can help match the cushion to the firmness and density you want to replace the bad cushion with.

4. Is the frame of your furniture still in good shape? If a sofa or chair has been dropped, it might crack a wooden frame. Flip your furniture upside down and take a look.

5. Does your furniture sit level? If it’s not level, check the frame. Check the legs to make sure a peg is not missing. If you can’t spot the problem, it’s time to buy new furniture.

6. When you sit on your furniture, do you feel the arms separate from the rest of the frame? Maybe you have a problem that can be solved with wood glue and a few clamps. Otherwise, for safety’s sake, get rid of your old furniture.

7. When you sit down, do you feel wood or a frame sticking out? Consider that poke in the behind your official cue to buy new furniture!

8. If you know it’s time to replace the old look of your furniture, decide if the update can be done with a simple slipcover. By measuring the furniture properly, a slip cover – either purchased ready made or custom made if your furniture has an unusual shape or curve to it – you can get a nice fit. Slip covers range in price starting at about $40. The better fabric you select, the higher the price. If you just want to update your furniture for a few more months until you save enough money to buy an all new ensemble, slip covers are the way to go.

9. Look at the finances. Will buying new furniture mean you’ll have to finance the purchase? If so, can you handle the extra bill each month?

10. Do you just want to? There’s nothing wrong with “wanting” new furniture. Look for solid pieces that will give your family many years of enjoyment and you’ll always be happy with your decision to buy new furniture!

If you have a limited amount of home space, you might not know what to do so that you can make things look attractive. Home decor can be really challenging especially if you don't have a large enough space. Even though it can seem like a daunting task, you could in fact do a a number of things that will help you proceed with designing a small area. Here are some simple ideas you can implement right now to enhance your home's appeal.

Choice of furniture. When it comes to furnishings, go with more square design than round. This will help you make a lasting appeal in regards to home decor for small spaces. Unlike round shaped furniture, square ones can be stacked over each other making it possible to maximize every bit of space that you have. Also, it makes it looks more modern.

Always go for smaller furniture and appliances that work multiple function. You would want to save space as much as possible. Multifunctional furniture and appliances allow you to do that. Not only have you saved space, but you have also saved money in buying several pieces of furniture and appliances.

Corner design. When you have a small home and you're uncertain the best way to fit in a lot of design ideas, you will need to make use of the corners more than other areas. You must look for nooks where you could and ensure that you may create living areas where they would normally be neglected. By maximizing corner areas you will find a visual aesthetic that is both modern, and useful.

Loft areas design. If you're savvy, you could make spaces that are above the ground and can offer more room for what you need. For example, in case you have a small home and the bedrooms aren't exactly very big, you can create a loft space where the bed is raised higher than the ground and the ground level is used for living, reading, and lounging. This helps you maximize other areas of your house.

The key to successfully designing your small home lies on making the most of the space that you have. Function needs to be on the forefront of your mind when trying to create a lasting impression in terms of decor. Visual aesthetics can be hard to apply if you aren't sure what to do, so make sure that you take the concepts above and then try to see where they will fit for your small space.

Globalization in the 21st century has made it possible for us to be open to new and unique concepts in decorating and designing our homes. One of the design issues that we have learned to admire is Chinese interior. When you look at the eastern houses, who admire its opulent and exotic beauty. At first glance, the setup seems easy to rebuild, but in reality very few people have a deep understanding of the basic principles of Chinese domestic. Dating back thousands of years, the interior of China is based on the principles of energy, simplicity and nature.

Things you need to consider from the interior of the house which has a variety of style and functionality, it should at least bring a personal creative style also bring your individual look. Chinese people strive to provide the environment characterized by peace and quiet away, and because Chinese culture has a long tradition, elements within China also reflect the values of the people in the house.

One of the most fundamental principles to be observed in the Chinese interior design is simplicity. For them, an environment should not be filled with all common decoration. Important is the correct placement of some valuable and beautiful objects in a room for optimal effect. Using only a few points, the rooms remain light, spacious and simple but tasteful reflection of the owner. Another element is used in Chinese appliances using screens. These items are both decorative and functional - not only liven up a room, but also serve to maintain privacy.

Many years ago, these frames built with lightweight materials to make use of a grid lattice as pure compound or paper. Today, the screens are made of different materials such as wood or bamboo expensive ivory decorated with delicate inlay. A screen can also dress folding panels to fit on different areas of the house. It's a very inexpensive way to add a touch of Asia to its Chinese domestic simple, but elegant. The screen is good, depending on design, can also be used for other interior items.

Principles most Chinese interior design is based on Feng Shui, or the ancient tradition of the arrangement of space to achieve a harmonious environment. It is a spiritual discipline based on the guidelines, after examination, are actually compatible with the traditional architectural techniques used today. If you apply Feng Shui inside China, it is assumed that residents take full advantage of the carefully arranged furniture and living spaces in terms of wealth, love, health and happiness.

Due to increasing popularity, owners will now be easier to find an expert in Feng Shui which is available before boarding a Chinese domestic Project. You can also find hundreds of online resources to help you organize your space and determine the best arrangement would be good "chi" or energy to pull.

You can opt for an inside look full Chinese or choose different design themes with just a hint of Chinese influence. One way to achieve this is through a handful of valuable pieces, perhaps embellished, to serve as accents in a sparsely furnished room. You can also take advantage of screens that can be easily moved depending on the intended function in a particular area. It is also a great idea to make use of a few pieces of Chinese decor. Chinese ceramics or paint colors you look exotic, and so may colorful rugs and cushions. Going for Chinese interior design when decorating a room can be very difficult. It can also be very rewarding when finally all the elements come together harmoniously in a room, you can call your own.

Wallpaper presents its peculiar designs and enhances the subject placed on it. Wallpaper does not reduce its importance based on its plain paper component. There are manufacturer and seller who offers textured wallpaper and some of which is not made exclusively of paper. Frequently, patterns of these wallpapers imitate different kinds of wall covering, giving a less expensive option that is uncomplicated to install.

The paintable type is wallpaper with heaved shaped surface that is intended to be coated over. This is usually produced from paper with vinyl content and often looks a lot like the usual wallpaper designs like floral design or imagery, blocks, stripes and crackled surfaces.

This is installed with glue just like the other types of wallpaper and once placed, it creates a complimentary design. The paper comes in blank and colorless and can be coated with any wall paint color.

Another type is the wall paper with faux textures. This textured wallpaper is made from both artificial and natural materials, providing a delicate, consisting of three-dimensionally textured feature to every kind of wallpapers. One usual faux texture system copies broad wall paint; and gives the material a brushed area that signifies the strokes of the brush.

This kind normally comes in concrete colors accentuated with the key features of the brushstrokes. Likewise, some faux textures give a clean particle forming redolent of a wood façade. Some faux textures imitate fabric like denim or burlap.

Known wallpaper designs such as stripes, floral or paisley patterns, normally come in the form of this type of texture but the pattern is in a bit heaved quality. Other patterned wallpaper lines give wrinkled metal textures, which appears like a crumpled aluminum foil. Different faux texture paper appears in a whole colors and are placed like the standard wallpaper using a wet glue. The required maintenance of the wallpaper is according to the substance in the construction of the paper.

Special effects vinyl gives the wallpaper a three-dimensional vinyl appearance. In general, this textured wallpaper is consist of expanded vinyl and imitates the appearance of tiny ceramic tiles. This type of wallpaper is frequently used on brick surfaces, bathroom and kitchen walls. The molding features of special effects vinyl present a dull, reflective sheen or a glossy finish, relative to the bricks or tiles design it attempts to produce.

Special effects vinyl wallpaper appears in an extensive array of colors; some are concrete solitary colors whereas the block-patterned ones genuinely copy the fired and aged appearance of brick. The special effects vinyl tiled-patterned wall paper often attributes a small number of different identical tile colors on a single roll to form a pattern. Just like the other types of wallpaper, consumers apply special effects vinyl using wet glue to place it on the wall. Once position on the wall, it can be washed with water and soap for cleaning.

A well decorated home is one unified whole with rooms that blend and relate to each other like members of a family. The goal of any room arrangement in your house is a simple grouping of furniture pieces that work toward its purpose, dining, sleeping, working, or relaxing. Create easy access through your rooms with 3-ft-wide passages that suggest where you want traffic to flow. Use entry furnishings constant with the rest of your home.

When you are dealing with furniture the whole collection must take priority over individual pieces. It is easy to fall under the enchantment of an antique piece of furniture, but you have to consider how it will fit in with everything else. Plus, you have to ask whether it meets your needs. Everybody loves to buy new things, but before bring in new furniture you must figure out whether to take advantage of what you already have.

You may want to restore or renovate the external appearance of furniture if it is shabby or drab. Decorating is not merely throwing out the old and brings in the new objects. New furniture is certainly attractive, not to mention pricey, if you were to search secondhand market and antique stores, you would probably come across some surprising pieces of furniture that add a touch of distinction to our home. Remember that some old furniture has more personality than new designs and can be a source of inspiration as you seek to create your own decorating scheme.

Old furniture is adequately interesting to be the central feature of a room but be sure never to mix antique furniture with different interior styles. The general rule is that if you have one very quality piece of antique furniture, the other, more reserved pieces, should stay out of the limelight. In bigger rooms you can place two or three pieces of antique furniture without overdoing it. Decorating a home is a lifelong process that changes as you adjust. It’s an unfolding experience that lets you express yourself. Enjoy the time you spend doing it.

This beautiful, modern mountain house designed by John Maniscalco Architecture is called Sugar Bowl residence (situated in the old village at Sugar Bowl, in Norden, California). The cedar-clad house sits on top of a concrete plinth so that the home rises above the winter snow threshold. The warm wooden volume contains the sleeping areas, boot room, and service spaces, with expansive views toward the snow and pine tree-covered landscape.

Abundant wooden elements -floors, ceilings, staircases, tables, chairs - help to create warmth inside the home to contrast the stark cold climate and views of the snowy landscape. All of the color of the house is natural and pure from the color of the wood.

At the first floor, a solid, cedar-clad volume houses entry, boot room, children’s and guest bedrooms, and service spaces. The windows are small - it is made to minimize the danger from wild animals. In the second floor, there are some wide glass windows to see the view outside. The interior palette of walnut, fir, concrete, and steel strikes a balance between clean, modern spatial expression with the warm, rustic feel of a mountain home. The upper level of the house, a variety of living spaces and the master bedroom suite, each enjoying mountain views, are gathered between the linear roof form and the simple block below.

Being banished to the basement doesn’t always have to be punishment! Nowadays, owners of homes with a basement consider the space to be prime square footage. Everything from hobby rooms, play rooms, media centers, music rooms, poker parlors, exercise areas, office space and of course, it’s original purpose, storage space, is finding new life in the space 'down below'.

The definition of a basement is an area that is either fully or partially below ground level. This is not to be confused with the crawl space of a house, since another part of the definition is that a person should be able to stand upright in the area.

The amount of square footage in the basement is generally equivalent to that on the ground floor. In most homes, it’s like having another entire level of living space, which can add up to quite a bit! The options for utilizing that amount of space really are limited only by the imagination since the space usually will have electricity and plumbing.

The basement can be partitioned off into different rooms or it can be one huge open space. If this part of your home is 'finished' then consider yourself lucky. If not, or if the space is on the remodeling To Do list, there are issues to consider before proceeding with the project. First, it’s important to identify 'trouble' spots such as lowered ceilings, enclosed boiler rooms, and ductwork. Second, the space must not leak. Uncontrolled moisture will cause a number of dangerous and damaging problems including the growth of mold.

Once the identification and remediation of basement problem areas is finished, the next step is determining a layout for the space. The task can be overwhelming, and a good way to begin is by determining the activities that’ll likely take place in the space.

Keep in mind that the basement will have little or no natural light so consider this when planning the layout. Slowly but surely this space will spring to life and you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it!
Next time you think it’s no big deal, remember that over time, excessive exposure to UV rays can lead to the onset of eye conditions including retina damage and even cataracts. So do your eyes a favor – eat your carrots and be sure to carry your sunglasses with you at all times!

Building wall to wall bookcases in your den, study, or computer room can be a great project to spruce up your living area. The effect that the bookcase will have on the feel of the room is quite striking and very functional to hold your books, nicknacks, or other items.

The best way to plan out the project is to find a long span of wall probably about 7 feet long that you can build one long bookcase on. By building on the entire wall of a room, it will come out looking built in, especially if you screw it right into the wall after you're done building it. You can also throw on a curved end piece for little items and nicknacks that can sit on the end of the bookcase and give it more of a homey, finished look.

While deciding which wall to put the bookcase on, please take into account the matter of any power outlets and switches that you would be covering. Also build into your planning where the furniture in the room would end up as that wall will now be not used to put desks, chairs or other pieces up against.

After you have found which area and space you want to build your bookcase on, you must then take measurements and decide what type of wood you are going to build your bookcases out of. Oak is one of the most popular woods to build bookcases with, as books are very heavy and the shelves are less likely to sag because of the strength of oak versus something like pine boards.

Measuring your area will be your next step. Keep in mind for the back of the bookcase you will probably use oak plywood material which is a little thinner than the shelving material. It comes in 4 foot by 8 foot pieces. So if your wall is a little under 8 feet high and about 7 feet wide, you will only need 2 sheets for the back of the bookcase.

Buying the material for the shelves will depend on the spaces that you want between your shelves and how deep you want them as well. By keeping your shelves about 12 inches deep you could get 8 - 4 foot shelves out of one piece of thicker oak plywood. Using 4 foot shelves across will require a vertical piece in the middle of your 8 foot wide span, but will increase the strength of the shelves and reduce that sag. You would also need 2 more pieces of plywood as you need an 8 foot top and bottom piece as well as 3 almost 8 feet vertical pieces, one for each side and one in the middle.

The rest of the measurements would depend on how many shelves you are going to have. Just try to take your height and divide equally so the spacing comes out uniform, perhaps even allowing for one taller space at the bottom for oversized books.

Putting the bookcase together can be done with screws but finish nails would be hidden better. Then the nail holes could be covered and stained over with the rest of the area. The finishing touches can be some type of molding around all the edges that face out into the room. Just a 2 inch wide strip would work but you could get fancy ones or other types of molding that is premade to make the piece even more striking.

Enjoying your bookcase for years will be even sweeter if you make it yourself and create a piece of furniture in your room that was built with pride.

Emerald - a lively, radiant, lush green, is the color of the year 2013. It's a color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony. From interior design to fashion, take note of emerald green. Emerald green offers a deep and dramatic flare to any room or space.

Emerald green is a classic, historical color that’s symbolic of richness and royalty. It’s our most abundant color in nature and is both optimistic and comforting. Emerald is a color that can work with pretty much any decorating scheme. Unless your house is mostly red and Christmas-all-year will be the look if you add the green, you’ll find a way.

Emerald green evokes the vibrancy of nature while at the same time conjuring a jewel-toned richness that can’t be denied. Whether you picture a faceted gemstone, the ridges in a sample of malachite, or your favorite plant when you gaze upon an emerald space or accent, you’ll love incorporating this vivid shade into your interior.

Perfect with beiges, browns, grays and other neutrals, it’s a wonderful accent to blues and many pastels and other greens. That would include emerald with yellow, orange, and even other greens. That can absolutely work. Pink and green is an all-time color combo. Teaming with red might be the exception. But that too can work if you add some beiges and browns to complement the red and green. Color theory supports that color opposites work together.

We suggests rejuvenating interiors with emerald paint, accents and accessories in this jewel-like hue which can create a luxurious feel in an entryway, powder room, dining room or study, and bring life to a living room as an accent wall or as a splash of color to the kitchen and dining room areas with emerald dinnerware, stemware and appliances.

Although it's a very decorative, emerald green is exquisite color in rooms that have a great source of natural light. However, in dark interiors it seems a bit depressed. Used in rooms that have high ceilings, it has the power to visually reduce the height of the walls.

Your home is your little paradise and if you are planning to renovate your home, goes for the changes that are not only eye catchy but also comfortable for you and your family. Remodeling of the home is associated with revolutions and amendments adjusted in every nook and cranny of the home. Flooring is not only more plentiful, but also it has improved over the years thanks to better technology and the availability of cost-effective materials. Good looking flooring could enhance the value of the home and could look very attractive.

Are you thinking about replacing flooring in your home? Before you're starting, consider the costs, benefits, and the downsides of each type of flooring before you commit. If you are going to change the flooring of your home there are some tips for flooring of different parts of you house.

Living room flooring ideas

It is the most used part that withholds most of the traffic coming in and out of the house. It is highly recommended that the flooring should be strong enough that it can endure all such amendments done with your furniture or to the increasing and decreasing ratio of visitors. For this purpose you can opt for hardwood flooring. Being classy and sophisticated in look it is the perfect choice for your living room whenever you are remodeling your home.

Other good choice is bamboo flooring. Bamboo is exceptionally strong and can be used in homes and commercial settings. This makes it perfect for the living room that receives a moderate amount of traffic, especially on holidays or while entertaining. Bamboo is an attractive flooring option as well, and since it’s natural, no two pieces look the same. It has a unique, unpredictable pattern that you’ll appreciate over the years.

Bedroom flooring ideas

There are plenty options when it comes to flooring in your bedroom. Being the most private and personalized part of your home, your bedroom is the place which grabs a big part of your budget whenever you are remodeling your home. You can use carpet, tile, hardwood, bamboo, cork or laminate. Play with different materials in different rooms. You can opt for striped light and dark shades in your boy's room so that if your son is going to create mess, which is unavoidable, the flooring can withstand the burden. Also the flooring can bear heavy traffic of the folks coming in the bedroom. For more powerful scratch and water resistant flooring you can choose laminate.

Kitchen flooring ideas

Design the floor of your kitchen in such a way that it not only looks pretty but also gives a practical impression. You can choose from vinyl, tile, natural stone, wood, cork or laminate. A floor covering that is water resistant and durable such as tile is a best choice to protect against potential water damage. Make sure when you choose your floor to order a little extra of the product in the event that you drop something like a pot on your floor.

If the flooring material is damaged, you will be sure to have enough to repair the floor because often floor manufacturers have high turnover of their products to insure a continual buying cycle. Most flooring contractors add 5-10% additional square footage of the flooring product to their purchase order to insure they have enough for the project and to provide the client with a little extra flooring for future use.

This apartment is called “Ayazpasa House” and spotted in Istanbul, Turkey. The architecture of the house is mixing an exciting combination of modern details and traditional Turkish elements; the loft has a fresh feel throughout. It’s very beautiful glided ceilings and beautiful moldings that create an elegant image, with a soft vintage touch. The details on the ceiling, marbles, fold-plated accents are the main design of this stunning vintage luxury interior in the house of Istanbul. Marble is a material also found in the washroom, where there are marble touches all over the room, as well as a marble-framed mirror.

The golden ceiling is in the kitchen. This is truly luxurious kitchen with exotic golden touch. Entering the bathroom, you will find some luxurious marbles materials, and these stay in stunning and vintage interior design.

The main living areas are given the special and varied treatment of the walls. The walls of the house are removed to reveal layers of paint used over the years, and some are covered in white tiles.

The flat has an extremely high ceiling, another dramatic feature that originally set the scene for the design of the space. The kitchen has an ornate gold ceiling as its most significant feature, so the design on the floor level is kept simpler, with all the appliances integrated in a single large marble block. Wood is used for the cupboards for a stunning contrast of materials, while providing a breath of warmth to the space.

The Ayazpasa house was designed by Sefer Çaglar and Seyhan Özdemir, pioneers of architecture studio Autoban. The wooden pieces of furniture create a warm atmosphere. When you also add the comfy nest chair, everything seems very inviting and cozy.

When many people hear of gothic home decor they picture someone that only dresses in black and wears black lipstick. The reality of the matter is that many people are interested in this decorating style and most of them look just everyone else. Many times, gothic home decor is used in one room of the house rather than the entire house. The basement, family room, and bedrooms are popular for this style of decorating. You don't have to consider yourself gothic to enjoy this type of home decorating.

When planning your gothic room you will probably want to address the walls before anything else. One option for the walls would be to get some plastic or vinyl imitation stone siding that people put on the exterior walls of the homes and line your interior room with it.

Some of these materials look very real. Another option would be to paint the walls. Black, really, makes the room seem confined so if you don't want that, try a darker red, navy, or silver. These colors will work well with your furnishings, also.

Your furniture and flooring allow you to use your imagination again. Wood is a safe route to go with for both flooring and furniture. A hardwood floor works well and wooden furniture can be left as is or painted. Black paint on wood furniture will match any gothic decorating.

There is a wide variety of accessories that you can choose from to complete your room. Older paintings of houses or people can be found in pawn shops or on garage sales. Candles are a nice addition. Red, black, and silver candles are very inexpensive. Let them burn down some for an added touch. Place smaller candles in metallic candle holders. You can use things covered in silk or velvet for accenting certain areas. Dry flower arrangements are quite gothic or add some knives and swords for a medieval goth feel.

The guest room is an important part of the house because of its function as to receive guest. The guest room is made for the comfort of the guest and not as a room in which he/she just has to reside. The first impression that is performed are to shows the style of ownership. The guest room is some kind of a public area. Therefore, the guest room is usually designed with a very unique and cozy, so that guests who come to feel comfortable. Even the living room can be a focus puller on every home.

No wonder the usual location of the guest room are on the front of a house. There are several ways to make the guest room can appear more attractive, one of which is that we must still consider the concept of our own homes, to remain a single entity in the house.

If the modern-style house, the parlor was also given a modern twist, or if the style is minimalist, the guest room was also given a touch of minimalism. However, whatever the theme, it does not mean the guest room becomes monotonous because the concept of existing homes.

One of the idea to give nuance of bold is too far from the monotonous impression on the guest room is to use bright colors. Besides that, bright colors can also give them a fresh touch to your guest room. If your house is minimalist concept, it does not mean you give your walls the color gray. It is very monotonous if you’re using a color gradation from light gray to dark gray.

It could give the impression of gray area and cold, but if too dominant, a guest room atmosphere is not at all fresh. You should try to give a different color in one area of the walls, if you want a little cool, for example in green, or blue color that symbolizes peace. A cheery yellow color is also great for the guest room. In addition to paint the walls, there are many elements that can be replaced with bright colors. Such as curtains, pillows on the couch, or table cloths.
